The Roe v Wade Supreme Court Decision Powerful Reminder of Elections and Faith

This is not primarily a Republican or Conservative victory. It is a resounding victory for millions of future children who will now live their God-ordained lives.

Friday’s ruling is a sober reminder of the 50 years of devastation Roe v. Wade has left in its wake. Abortion is, undoubtedly, the greatest moral stain on our country in our history. Sixty-three million children have been murdered in utero since 1973.

HIGH COURT STATES ROE V. WADE VIEW OF OPINION

As important as the ruling in Dobbs is. However, we must remember that this is not an outright national ban on abortion. By overturning Roe v. Wade, the Court returned the power to regulate abortion to the state level. There will be an intense battle in all 50 states over this hot-button issue. The pro-life cause has won a major battle, but the war is far from over. Those who value life cannot afford to grow tired of doing good.

Roe’s overthrow is also a confirmation of the right and responsibility of Christians to become involved in the political process. There’s only one reason Roe was overthrown: In 2016, conservative Christians teamed up to elect Donald Trump, and President Trump kept his promise to appoint pro-life Supreme Court justices. Both left and right agree that had Hillary Clinton been elected, Roe would still be the law of the land today.

This week’s landmark ruling reminds us that elections have consequences. Elected leaders set policies that can influence a country’s moral and spiritual direction. In the 1940s, German Christians (with a few exceptions) remained silent when Adolf Hitler came to power.

Fortunately, Christians in our country have refused to remain silent about the genocide of unborn children. Together they have implemented a leadership change that, resulted in a policy change that will save millions of lives.

In Matthew 5, Jesus called on Christians to be both salt and light. In the days of Jesus, salt was a preservative. Although it could not prevent the spoilage of meat, it could slow spoilage of meat.

In the same way, Jesus left his disciples here on earth to postpone our society’s cultural and moral rot so that we would have more time to present the hope and forgiveness that Christ offers to all people.

But salt must come out of the salt shaker and penetrate the meat to do its conservation work. Fortunately, millions of Christians stepped out of the pews and into the political world, resulting in this week’s landmark Supreme Court ruling.

Just as Christians led the way in the abolition of slavery and the struggle for civil rights, Christians of this generation have played an important role in protecting our most fundamental right: the right to life.
